Writer’s Block
Social media has tons of posts about how to get over writers’ block. And just as many explaining that there’s no such thing.
They’re both right.
Sure, writers have trouble getting going some mornings, but so do chefs, cab drivers, and priests. But giving that slight reluctance its own, career-specific, name makes it sound much more serious than it actually is.
Some authors say they get intimidated by a blank screen or by trying to think of what to write. If you're a professional writer, it’s a luxury you can’t afford.
Even if you’re a bit slow, just start writing. Don’t wait for inspiration. Sit down and start. Write a page of crap. Write two pages of crap. Sooner or later, it’ll stop being crap. If it doesn’t, try again tomorrow. And keep doing it until it’s not crap. Because that time will come.
If you find that process too frustrating to consider, reach out to a ghostwriter.
If they’re worth their salt, they’ll be able to sit down and start writing as soon as the meter starts running.
