Leave a Legacy
Are you thinking of writing a legacy project?
What’s a legacy project? It’s a memoir, but it tends to be specifically intended for the author’s family or friends.
More authors are writing legacy books.
The main reason is because they can. It’s quicker, easier, and cheaper to record your life, whether you’re doing it out of pride from what you’ve achieved, because you wish to set an example, or because you want your influence in your family to continue after you’ve gone.
The most heart-moving reason for writing a book I’ve heard came from a client who told me how he watched his mother lose all her memories through dementia. He wanted to record his memories in case he went the same way. He said he'd lived a remarkable life he wanted his kids to know about.
And it's still happening. We keep having to add chapters to the book as more stuff happens. So we can't quite finish yet—but at least it's all on record.
