Anyone Can Write

Some people think ghostwriting is a dirty word.

It just happened to me (again) over New Year. I was chatting to someone about what I do and they said, “So you write books for people who can't write.”

It’s a common mistake. I told them, “That's not what I do at all.”

Many of the people I ghostwrite books for write exceptionally well. Some are lawyers who write fantastic briefs. Some are doctors who write perceptive medical reports, some are academics and journalists who write very well in their field.

I write books for people who aren't book writers. Writing a book involves lots of planning and an ability to keep a whole narrative arc in your head as you write over a period of months. This doesn't come easily if you haven't had some practice.

For many people who want to write a book, this isn’t a skill they have time to master.

I don’t write books for people who can’t write. I write books for people who don’t have time to write.
